Dwight Byers was the nephew of the late Eunice Ingham, known as the ‘Mother of Reflexology’. He was the past President of the International Institute of Reflexology® which he established to protect his aunt’s original writings worldwide. He and his wife Nancy were responsible for formulating and consolidating the teachings of his aunt.

While based in St Petersburg, Florida, he spent much of his time travelling the world teaching reflexology and carrying on the work of his aunt through continued research and developing Reflexology techniques. He was the world’s leading authority on the Original Ingham Method® of Reflexology.

Dwight wrote the book Better Health with Foot Reflexology which is a complete and up-to-date reference guide and the core textbook for the International Institute of Reflexology training courses.

Tony Porter wrote: “I learned a lot from Dwight other than reflexology; the main one was the importance of cultivating a positive outlook, something he constantly reminded us all about. He learned this from Eunice, who also claimed that a positive outlook of the reflexologist had a positive influence on the therapeutic benefits of treatments.” (https://www.artreflex.com/tonys-blog/archives/01-2019)

Dwight and IIR were founding members of FAR as he was for our predecessor FAIR. He was always a support to the field and worked diligently in the 1990’s to get reflexology exempted from the Florida massage licensing law.
